PHP-EML is a PHP based email mailing list application The aim of the project is to provide a simple to use and easy to configure email mailing list application with web based archive and administration facilities, written in PHP. With the increasingly wide support amongst hosting providers for PHP, and by allowing for a variety of different data storage methods, the project will aim to provide a mailing list solution for instances where other, more powerful but also complex and difficult to skin, manage and support applications are either unavailable or over kill. Summary of Features: - automatically subscribe and unsubscribe by emailing a specific email address - post or reply to messages by emailing a specific email address - all posts to list sent to all subscribers, with specifically formatted subject line and identifier - all posts accessible via a web page archive - simple configuration and management tools for administrators Clever Bits Required: - Removing surplus html header information from emails before forwarding or displaying - Being compatible with different mail clients (some automatically use RE: others Re: others [] which can lead to long ungainly subject lines - abstracting data access to allow for different data storgae methods (XML, MySQL, SQLite, Flat File planned at present) Requirements: · PHPMailer class
